We are gearing up for another hurricane season in the southern Bahamas. Over the years we have swapped out our 3/8” chain for new chain and updated our 3/4” New England Ropes anchor rodes. What has not changed, and will not change are the two big Spade anchors on our bow. Even though we are a 35 ft catamaran, we have the aluminum A200 as our every day, all day, primary anchor and it had never let us down. Through storms and hurricanes as well as normal conditions it has never, even once, dragged or pulled out.
I have 100% confidence in these anchors. I have seen every other type of anchor drag in conditions where we have held fast so I know if any boat will be left “standing” in an anchorage once the hurricane blows through, it will be the boats with the Spade anchors holding them firmly to the bottom.
Thanks again for a great anchor.
